From CRT to LCD, to OLED, and now to MLED (Mini/Micro LED), every change in display technology has reshaped the competitive landscape of terminals. As the core of the new generation of display technology, MLED‘s low power consumption, high display and other characteristics are becoming the core of the layout of major terminal manufacturers.
According to a research report by CITIC Securities, Mini LED will enter its first year of commercial use in 2021, and is expected to continue to penetrate in 2023 due to cost reduction in the supply chain and the bottoming out of demand in the display industry. Micro LED is also expected to make a name for itself in the wearable field. The latest data shows that the domestic TV market remained in negative growth in the first half of the year, but Mini LED products achieved good growth. During the 618 shopping festival, retail sales doubled compared to the same period last year.
The growth of Mini LED TVs is in line with the law of new technology in terminal applications, and the cost reduction coupled with the price war rolled up by brands has accelerated this process. However, with the clearance of upstream inventory and operational pressure, multiple manufacturers have raised panel prices such as MLED. Transmitting to the terminal, this is also a cyclical "value adjustment". In the long run, price wars may no longer be popular, and TV companies need to find more effective ways of market competition.
